Questions about planet positions & divisional charts
How are the planet positions calculated?
With the Swiss Ephemeris (the standard high-precision astronomy library) in the sidereal zodiac, using the Lahiri ayanamsa by default. Positions are exact to the arc-minute; the biggest source of error is usually the birth time itself.
What are divisional charts (vargas)?
Divisional charts divide each sign into smaller parts to look at one area of life closely — the Navamsa (D9) for marriage and inner strength, the Dasamsa (D10) for career, the Saptamsa (D7) for children, and so on. Ayana calculates all 16 classical ones, D1 to D60.
Which house system does Ayana use?
Whole-sign houses by default — the traditional Vedic system, where each sign is one house counted from your rising sign. Placidus and equal houses are available under advanced settings when you create a chart.
