Why are these signs different from my newspaper horoscope?
Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, aligned with the stars (here with the Lahiri ayanāṁśa). Western horoscopes use the tropical zodiac, which is about 24° ahead — so a planet often sits one sign earlier here.
What does retrograde mean?
Seen from Earth, a planet sometimes appears to move backwards for a few weeks or months. Classically a retrograde planet's matters tend to come through revisiting, review or second attempts. Rāhu and Ketu always move backwards.
